is a specialized room of the library functioning as a scientific laboratory for studying the life, work and pedagogical heritage of the outstanding Ukrainian teacher-humanist Vasyl Oleksandrovych Sukhomlynskyi.

In 2002 – 2003 V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s family gave SSPL of Ukraine 3,393 items of documents, namely: outstanding teacher’s personal works published in the Ukrainian and 50 foreign languages, materials about his life and work in the Ukrainian and many foreign languages, documentary video and photographs collected after the scientist’s death. These materials constitute the basis of the Reading Room of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s Collection opened at the library in March 2003.

Reading Room of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s Collection provides service to scientists, teachers, postgraduates and students of higher education institutions.

These users have access to the documents from the Reading Room Collection.

Among the main tasks of the Reading Room of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s Collection are:

• to collect, storage and introduce V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s document heritage to the educational, scientific and cultural spheres;
• to create information products (full-text electronic base of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s articles,
  traditional catalogues, card files) on the basis of the reading room document collection;
• to keep all the documents on different types of information carriers;
• to organize document exchange between the library and those establishments named in honour of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi;
• to study the peculiarities of reading rooms, room-museums, library and archival collections and collected documents which are analogous to them;
• to introduce into practice V.O. Sukhomlynskyi’s pedagogical ideas through organizing subject excursions to the reading room and publishing materials devoted to the great teacher (bibliographic indexes, scientific publications, booklets).
