13 June 2018 marked the 155th anniversary of the birth of Mariia Mykolaivna Hrinchenko (1863 – 1928), a famous public figure, pedagogue, writer, interpreter, author of popular science books, compiler of thesaurus Slovar ukrainskoi movy (Ukrainian thesaurus), one of the founders and active member of the Prosveta (Enlightment) society in Kyiv. Very often she wrote under the following pen names: M. H., M. Z., Dolenko, Chaichenko, Marusia and others; but she was well-known as Mariia Zahirnia.
