26 February 2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vasyl Onysymovych Onyshchuk, a Ukrainian pedagogue, teacher, winner of the 1976 Outstanding Popular Educator Award, specialist in didactics, teacher of pedagogy, psychology, and geography in Bershad teachers’ training school, head of the Department of Didactics at the Research Institute of Pedagogy of the Ukrainian SSR, N. Krupska prize-winner, and the Ukrainian SSR State prize-winner in the field of science and engineering.
Vasyl Onysymovych studied the content and structure of knowledge obtained by children, development of their abilities and skills, ways how to improve the quality of knowledge and effectiveness of education process. He was also interested in typology, structure and methods of lessons. His papers on didactic studies furthered research based on experiments.
Onyshchuk V. O. published about 20 books for teachers. Some of them were translated into Lithuanian, Latvian, Moldavian, Polish, and Armenian.
