On 09 August 2017 the pedagogical community celebrated the 125th anniversary of the birth of Sava Khrystoforovych Chavdarov (1892 – 1962), a Ukrainian scientist, pedagogue, specialist in didactics, methodologist of primary and secondary education, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Educational Sciences of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, Honoured Scientist of the Ukrainian SSR, teacher of Ukrainian and Russian in Kyiv region, lecturer of pedagogy, history of pedagogy, methods of Ukrainian and Russian at higher education establishments in Kyiv, Professor and head of the Department of Pedagogy at the Kyiv University, director of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Pedagogy, author of about 200 research papers, textbooks on pedagogy, manuals and textbooks on the Ukrainian language for primary and secondary schools.
