22 April 2017 marked the 125th anniversary of the birth of Yakiv Borysovych Rieznik, a Ukrainian pedagogue, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, founder and head of the orphanage in Kyiv, lecturer of the course on pedagogy at higher education institutions in Odessa, Kyiv, and the Starobelsk Teachers’ Training Institute. Yakiv Borysovych Rieznik was an author of works on didactics. He produced the following manuals for teachers: Psykholohichni osnovy navchalnoho protsesu (Psychological fundamentals of educational process) and Poiasniuvalne chytannia v pochatkovii shkoli (Explanatory reading in primary school).
