Tetiana Fedorivna Buhaiko is an Honoured teacher of the Ukrainian SSR (1940), pedagogue-methodologist, specialist in literature, Professor, and the first female Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences in Ukraine (1957). She worked as a teacher in Chernihiv region (Romny and Shchors) and Kyiv. She was a researcher and senior researcher in the Ukrainian Research Institute of Pedagogy. T. F. Buhaiko was a lecturer and head of the Department of Methods of Language and Literature at the Kyiv State O. Horkyi Teachers’ Training Institute (M. Drahomanov National Teachers’ Training University at present).

In 1951, according to the resolution of the Ministry of Education of the Ukrainian SSR, T. F. Buhaiko was appointed chief editor of the Ukrainian educational Literatura v shkoli (Literature in school) journal (later the journal was renamed into Ukrainska mova i literatura v shkoli (Ukrainian Language and Literature in School); and now it is called Dyvoslovo (Exciting Word). She was a chief editor for four years, and then she remained an editorial board member of the journal till the end of her life.

T. F. Buhaiko’s research oeuvre is of great worth. She and her husband F. F. Buhaiko produced more than 300 research papers, published 65 books and several manuals on Ukrainian literature that were issued many times.
