01 February 2017 marked the 160th anniversary of the birth of Volodymyr Mykhailovych Bekhteriev (1857 – 1927), a Russian neurologist, physiologist, psychiatrist, psychologist, pedagogue, public figure, representative of the science of the human brain structure and its function, representative of the clinic of neuropathology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, sex education, small children’s behaviour, and social psychology, one of the organisers of the All-Russian congresses in psychology and experimental pedagogy, founder of many scientific and teachers’ training establishments in Petersburg, organiser and director of the Psychoneurologic Institute and Institute for Human Brain Research, and author of Obektivnaya psihologiya (Objective psychology), Obshchie osnovy refleksologii cheloveka (General fundamentals of human’s reflexology), and Mozg i ego deyatelnost (Human brain and its activity).
