January 2015 marked the 140th anniversary of the birth of Stepan Andriiovych Ananin, a famous Ukrainian teacher, psychologist, scholar, specialist in the theory of labour and aesthetic education, comparative pedagogy and paedology, Professor and lecturer of the course on children’s and pedagogical psychology at the Kyiv St. Volodymyr University (Kyiv T. Shevchenko National University at present), dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, the Kyiv Institute of Popular Education (1920-1925) (M. Drahomanov National Teachers’ Training University at present), author of the monograph Interes po ucheniu sovremennoi psikhologii i pedagogiki (Teaching modern psychology and pedagogy) (1915), and initiator of the Teachers’ Training Faculty at the Kyiv State Conservatory (1922).
