Electronic resource «Educators of Ukraine and the World» as a means of forming a biographical portrait of the Ukrainian emigrant educator Oleksandr Tysovskyi (1886–1968)
Abstract
The article theoretically and analytically substantiates the possibilities of the electronic information and bibliographic resource “Educators of Ukraine and the World” as a means of forming a scientifically verified biographical portrait of the Ukrainian emigrant educator Oleksandr Vasylovych Tysovskyi (1886–1968). The emphasis is shifted from a traditional description of the personality to the analysis of the role of the V. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Educational Library of Ukraine as an institution that carries out source identification, bibliographic organisation, digital representation, and scholarly interpretation of materials about educators. It is shown that electronic resources are especially valuable for personalities of the émigré milieu because they enable the integration of biographical evidence scattered across different countries, languages, publishing centres, and document types into a coherent system. It is determined that a personal webpage built according to the model of the resource performs not only a reference function, but also research, communicative, educational, and memorial functions. On the basis of works on pedagogical biography, digital humanities, and biobibliography, as well as the analysis of analogous personal webpages within the resource, the structural components of a webpage devoted to O. V. Tysovskyi are outlined, namely a biographical essay, bibliography of works, bibliography of publications about his life and activity, full-text documents, photo gallery, materials on commemorating his memory, and a list of sources used. It is proved that the electronic format makes it possible to present O. Tysovskyi not fragmentarily as the founder of Plast or the author of individual works, but comprehensively as a biologist, educator, organiser of an educational system, university teacher, figure of the Ukrainian emigration, and representative of transnational pedagogical experience. It is concluded that the electronic resource enables an evidence-based, structurally ordered, and methodologically sound representation of the personality and serves as an effective instrument for returning a dispersed pedagogical heritage to the contemporary Ukrainian scholarly and educational space.
