Educational Libraries as a Center of Information and Communication Support in Today’s Realities
Abstract
The article examines the activities of educational libraries in wartime. The literature on this issue is analyzed, the studies of S. Serdiuk, S. Gerasymova, H. Solodenko, T. Kulakovska, L. Turovska, O. Vdovina, A. Potikha, L. Berezivska are highlighted. Important aspects of information and communication support for library users: researchers, teachers, volunteers, and internally displaced persons are revealed. The information about thematic collections of information resources on library websites that provide users with relevant and useful information is highlighted. It is emphasized that the information and communication support of Ukrainian libraries in wartime are of particular importance. New forms and methods of educational work have been activated, and library services that meet the needs of the population and the requirements of today are in demand. Libraries have become platforms for promoting education, legal literacy, and psychological support. The websites of educational libraries have resources where you can get online advice from a professional psychologist, contacts, links, tips, techniques and methods to help you cope with stress, anxiety, anger, and take care of your own and others’ mental health. It is noted that psychological support is extremely important for people who are mentally and physically traumatized and experiencing permanent stress.
It is emphasized that despite the full-scale war, libraries continue to be cultural centers, presenting exhibitions, reviews, and video presentations that reflect the activities of the network libraries on their websites (V. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Educational Library of Ukraine, Lviv Regional Scientific and Educational Library of Ukraine, libraries of Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubinskyi State Pedagogical University, Kamianets-Podilskyi I. Ohiienko National University, B. Grinchenko Kyiv Metropoliten University, etc.) during the war and adaptation of information and socio-cultural work to the current needs.
The role of libraries in the information, educational and scientific space of Ukraine in the realities of today is revealed. It is proved that during the war, libraries move from a traditional environment to a social space that can successfully resist the influence of enemy information, cultural and psychological strategies.
