The Role of the Library as a Component of the Information and Educational Space of the Educational Institution
Abstract
The challenges of the information society necessitate the expansion of technological capabilities of modern libraries and strengthening their presence in the digital environment, in particular through the use of social networks and the Internet. This study analyzes the role of the library in the information society as a tool for information verification.
The purpose of the study is to outline the role of the modern library in meeting the information needs of the reader in the context of the digitalization of society.
The scientific novelty of the work lies in the development of conceptual ideas about the role and activities of libraries, as well as their impact on the functioning of the information and educational space of an educational institution in the context of digitalization.
The paper establishes that the main functional purpose of a library is to provide information, ensure free access to national and international information resources, and facilitate the smooth running of educational and research processes. In this regard, the task of the library in the context of digitalization is to provide effective access to the necessary sources of information and to create technologically modernized conditions for working with them to ensure the intellectual and informational comfort of the user.
The author draws conclusions about the dynamism of changing the role of libraries in the information space of educational institutions and considers the prospects for the development of domestic libraries as cultural and educational centers and information centers capable of meeting the information needs of users. It is determined that they should become active participants in information and analytical activities, providing support for the educational process, data verification, presentation of information in a user-friendly format, as well as providing expert advice on various aspects of information activities.
