The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Quality of Education: Opportunities, Challenges and Threats
Abstract
The article substantiates the relevance of the issue of development of Artificial Intelligence technologies and their implementation in the educational sector. On the basis of systematic analysis of scientific sources, the essence of the definition of «Artificial Intelligence» is defined, the theoretical foundations of the problem of using Artificial Intelligence technologies in education are outlined, the role of AI in the educational process and its potential as an effective tool for improving the quality of education are highlighted. The possibilities and ways of applying Artificial Intelligence in educational institutions in the context of their impact on the quality of educational services are identified. It is established that AI technologies have great potential for personalising learning, creating an adaptive, interactive and inclusive educational environment, developing learning materials and digital resources, automated assessment and feedback, predicting academic performance and data analysis, providing additional support through intelligent tutors and virtual assistants, and using virtual and augmented reality in the educational process, which has a positive impact on the quality of education. The challenges and threats of introducing Artificial Intelligence in the educational process, which can lead to a decrease in the quality of education, related to the standardisation of education, loss of contact between participants in the educational process, reduced motivation to learn, violation of academic integrity, algorithmic errors and unreliability of AI data, social isolation, insufficient training of educators to implement artificial intelligence technologies, cyber threats and data security. It is emphasized that despite all the potential opportunities that AI technologies have to improve the quality of education, Artificial Intelligence should be used only as an assistant to the teacher, who remains not only a source of knowledge, but also a mentor, tutor, facilitator and partner, significantly influencing the development of personal and socially important qualities and abilities of each individual. It is concluded that the rapid popularity of Artificial Intelligence technologies and their widespread use in the educational process and scientific research require the educational and scientific community to rethink not only the key approaches to teaching, learning, assessment and control, but also the entire paradigm of education, given the need to preserve and improve the quality of education.
