Analytical, abstract and bibliographic components in the system of scientific information support of education: commemorating the 20th anniversary of V. O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine
Abstract
The paper deals with the tasks and strategies of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine in relation to analytical, abstract and bibliographic support of education. The main research findings carried out by the Department of Scientific Abstract and Analytical Information in the Sphere of Education and the Department of Scientific and Bibliographic Activity are characterised. Quantitative and qualitative adjectives of library products produced within the research are given. The paper outlines the strategy for further development of information support of education to achieve qualitative changes taking into consideration European integration and globalisation process. It is emphasised that the main aim is to improve the library and information support of education through the formation of a new socio-cultural image of the library, which is able to meet the currant needs of users of pedagogical orientation, since it has great databases, provides free and unlimited access to the world information networks and data banks using the latest information and communication technologies, and is focused on the integration of internal and external information resources to further educational information and intellectualisation of society. In order to achieve the research aim the following empirical and theoretical methods of sociohumanitarian and sociocommunicative sciences were used: observation, modeling, abstraction, prediction, information processing, monitoring of document flow, etc.
