Current directions of socio-cultural activity performed at education libraries
Abstract
The paper covers socio-cultural activity performed at education libraries. The following current directions of socio-cultural activity were investigated: national-patriotic training of pupils and students; civic and legal education; development of environmental culture; health information and education; development of aesthetic views via literature and art; development of technological, cognitive and social competencies (so called digital acumen). The attention is focused on national-patriotic and civic education; they involve the realisation of the following activities: organisation and holding educational, informational, culturological, international, scientific, and methodical activities on national-patriotic education; improvement of professional skills in the sphere of training of children and youth; involvement of contemporary cultural, art, and science workers, sportsmen, and volunteers in the processes of national-patriotic education, etc. The paper discusses the education library activities aimed at promoting library document resources and enhancing the image of libraries. It is stated that the cultural and educational activities performded at libraries undergo certain changes under the influence of information technology. The study informs about the content and purpose of different directions of sociocultural activity performed at education libraries considered as an important factor of qualitative sociocultural shifts in Ukraine in the context of the development of the world cultural and educational environment. It is mentioned that the development of digital literacy skills of young generation is the most important direction of socio-cultural activity performed at education libraries.
