Abstract

Abstract. The article defines the prerequisites for the creation of a public
archive preserving oral history and forming national identity in the context of the
Russian-Ukrainian war; secondly, it outlines the prospects for using it as a
resource for post-war comprehension of Ukrainian society and social and
psychological support.
It is established that the public archive can be used for various purposes: by
degree-seeking students and scientists during research; by teachers and educators
for conducting classes and extracurricular events; by painters and artists for works
of art; by librarians for extension of their activities; materials can act as a canvas
for the creativity of literary, theatrical, or visual projects; by writers and
typographers for the materials of their texts and publications; by psychologists to
use the method of storytelling; by social workers to study social phenomena and
search for ways to achieve social justice, etc.
It was established that the public archive would contribute to solving a
number of problems: promoting social adaptation and social rehabilitation of the
population; preserving the testimonies about the Russian-Ukrainian war of
ordinary Ukrainians; creating a public archive that would contribute to the
development of the Ukrainian historical and cultural heritage of our state; creating
a powerful resource for post-war comprehension of Ukrainian society; forming a
national identity and national consciousness of Ukrainians; creating a foundation
for the founding and development of a democratic civil society; popularizing
Ukrainian history, culture, and traditions abroad.
