In his <em>Julie ou la Nouvelle H\u00e9lo\u00efse<\/em> (Julie, or the New Heloise) and <em>\u00c9mile ou De l\u2019\u00e9ducation<\/em> (Emile, or On Education) he criticized the system of education. In his <em>Les Confessions <\/em>(The\u00a0Confessions) and <em>Discours sur l&#8217;origine et les fondements de l&#8217;in\u00e9galit\u00e9 parmi les hommes<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Discourse_on_the_Origin_and_Basis_of_Inequality_Among_Men\">Discourse on the Origin and Basis of Inequality Among Men<\/a>) he idealised the primitive society, contrasting the social order of his times with happy life in \u2018natural condition\u2019, when all the people were free and had equal rights. In his <em>Du contrat social ou Principes du droit politique<\/em> (On the Social Contract; or, Principles of Political Rights) Jean-Jacques Rousseau showed the idea of popular sovereignty and transformed it into the integral political and legal concept. The belles-letters book by Jean-Jacques Rousseau awoke humane attitude to poor people and love for nature, furthered harmonious development of an individual and developed a sense of civic duty.
