Department of Scientific Information and Bibliographic Activities
The Department of Scientific Information and Bibliographic Activity was established in 1999, the main objective of it is to carry out information and bibliographic activity and provide information bibliographic service to users of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine.
MAIN ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE DEPARTMENT
The Department carries out fundamental and applied research work aimed at the achievement of scientific or scientific applied result – a new kind of knowledge received at the end of research work and fixed on scientific information carriers in the form of report, scientific work, paper, or thesis about the results of scientific research work, discovery, etc.
Research and library activity of the Department is realised through its functioning in accordance with its purpose and place in the system of other scientific, educational, cultural and informational institutions and organisations as a national book depositary, all-Ukrainian scientific-information, scientific-methodical and coordinating centre within the system of education libraries of the MES of Ukraine and the NAES of Ukraine; in particular it concerns the organisation and effective use of information resources, providing information and bibliographic service to uses, scientific and methodical work, etc.
MAIN TASKS OF THE DEPARTMENT
Scientific research work on the development and improvement of scientific information and bibliographic activity.
Providing quick and quality information and bibliographic service to the library users.
Providing information about new document arrivals to the Governing Board of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and leading scientists of national educational science in accordance with the current needs taking into consideration the selective dissemination of information (SDI).
Differentiated Governing Board Service (DGBS) the main aim of which is to provide them with specially prepared information connected with the solution of management problems.Development of normative-instructive and methodical materials on information and bibliographic activity.
Improvement of reference and search aids (RSA) of the Department in the traditional and electronic forms according to the System of Catalogues and Files of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine.
Improvement in using information and communication technologies by education libraries, in particular it concerns the Automated Library System (ALS).
Development of corporate relations with leading Ukrainian and foreign education libraries concerning information and bibliographic activity.Improvement of the process concerning the popularisation of holdings and development of information culture of library users by means of different forms and methods of collective and individual work.
Assistance in the professional development of librarians in the sphere of information and bibliographic activity.Providing consultative and methodological assistance to the library staff and education libraries in Ukraine as well as study, generalisation and introduction of leading national and foreign libraries experience concerning information and bibliographic activity into the practice of the Department.
Introduction of research findings of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine into practice of the system of education libraries under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
Monitoring of the process of introduction of research findings concerning completed scientific research works carried out at the Department into the practice of the system of education libraries.
Enlarging cooperation with libraries of scientific institutions under the NAES of Ukraine, educational establishments of different accreditation levels, other organisations according to the following areas:
- arrangement of article and scientific paper manuscript reviews, etc.;
- participation in scientific conferences, seminars, competitions, exhibitions and other mass activities;
- publication of research findings not containing confidential information in foreign scientific periodicals.
