Department of Pedagogical Source Studies and Biographistics of V. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Educational Library of Ukraine

The Department of Pedagogical Source Studies and Biographistics was established in 2015 (2016–2019 – Department of the History of Education) on the initiative of the Director of V. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and EducationalLibrary of Ukraine of the NAES of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the NAES of Ukraine Larysa Dmytrivna Berezivska.

The structure of the department includes:

  • Sukhomlynskyi studies sector
  • Reading room of V.O. Sukhomlinskyi’s Fund.

Sukhomlynskyi studies sector, the purpose of which is a systematic and thorough study, popularization of the creative heritage and activities of the outstanding Ukrainian educator V.O. Sukhomlynskyi. It was created in 2016 for the first time in Ukraine.

The purpose of the Department

The purpose of the Department is to conduct research on the History of Education, Pedagogical source studies and Biographistics, Pedagogical bibliography; information support of scientific research in the field of Education, Pedagogy, History of education / Pedagogy.

Areas of activity of the Department

  1. Scientific work.
  2. Scientific and organizational work.
  3. Scientific and information work.
  4. Cultural and educational work.

The main tasks of the Department

  • Scientific work in the field of History of Education on the basis of a wide range of sources, in particular from the Fund of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine.
  • Study and improvement of scientific methods of Source studies; analytical study of individual sources or their complexes.
  • Development of theoretical foundations of Pedagogical bibliography and Pedagogical biographistics as a source base of the History of Education.
  • Carrying out biographical research, collecting, scientific processing of biographical and bibliographic materials about life and activity of teachers-educators of Ukraine (of the past and present).
  • Bibliographic support for the development of science: preparation and publication of scientific and auxiliary, recommendational, personal bibliographic production on Pedagogy, History of Education; bibliographic service of scientists of the branch and other profile specialists of Ukraine for the purpose of education and self-education in traditional and electronic forms.
  • Research of the heritage of the outstanding Ukrainian pedagogue-humanist V.O. Sukhomlynskyi (Sukhomlynskyi studies sector), which is an integral component of the development of modern education and pedagogy in Ukraine.

Study, generalization and implementation of the experience of leading domestic and foreign libraries, research institutions, higher education institutions in source studies, bibliography and biographistics, Sukhomlynskyi studies.
